Algoma-Manitoulin Forestry Services was engaged by the SSMRCA in late 2016 to prepare an updated Managed Forest Plan for the planning period 2018-2037 which will meet the specifications to qualify for the Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program.

The updated plan will reflect the value and functionality of healthy sustainable forest ecosystems and sets objectives under several themes: Watershed Protection, Environment, Financial Stability, Wildlife Habitat, Recreation, Community Involvement and Communications, Social, Cultural, Research and Education and Long Term Forest Health.

Community members are encouraged to attend the Public Consultation Session to review the Draft Managed Forest Plan and recommended forestry activities. Those attending will have the opportunity to identify user groups, priorities and issues, and submit comments for consideration.

The Public Consultation Session will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Russ Ramsay Room in the Civic Centre, 99 Foster Drive.

The Draft Managed Forest Plan will be posted on the SSMRCA website following the Public Consultation Session for a period of 30 days.
